With years as a planner in the City of Vancouver, over a decade as a planning consultant and over half a decade managing large master-planned real estate development projects, Mark offers a unique and effective combination of private and public sector skill sets to lead projects from early visioning to policy development, to design and approvals, and from financing to construction.
A commitment to relentless innovation has driven Mark to challenge and push past the norms in all areas of his work. He has won numerous awards and is credited with many innovations in Canadian planning including sustainable communities, Agricultural Urbanism, creating urban vitality through Urban Magnets, and many other progressive concepts.
As a part-time professor at Vancouver Island University’s Graduate School in Planning and co-author of several books and articles, Mark is considered a leading thinker of his generation in his field and is a sought after inspirational speaker on planning.
